AIR RAIDS let JANUA RY

2nd JANUARY 1938

I beg to report the following damage to the hallway

through bombing by enemy planes on the 1st and 2nd instant:-

18T JANUARY.

KUT SHAN WU CHUNG. At about 10 hours 9 enemy planes

attacked the kailway and dropped 32 bombs between Km. 14/3 and

Km. 20/16, damaging the track and buildings at the following

places:-

Km. 15/16, 2 rails elightly damaged: Km. 16/1, 2 rails

and 8 sleepers danaged: Km. 20/2, 150 ft. track damaged and a

crater of 30' dia. x 20' deep was made. Wu Chung station

building and No. 4 P. W. Gang Hut completely demolished. Lau

Hung, Cook of No. 4 P.W. Gang, was killed in the Gang Hut, and

a Military Guard at Bridge No. 25 Km. 19.40 was also killed; Km.

20/16, 300 fett track badly damaged and a crater 30' dia. x 30'

deep was made in the embankment.

Repaire were immediately carried out for trains to pass.

2ND JANUARY.

SHEK HA. At about 14.00 hours the ailway was bombed by 8

enemy planes and 17 bombs were dropped between Km. 51/1 and

Km. 51/10, daging all telegraph wires between Shek Tan and

Sien Tsun stations. 1,rail at Km. 51/10 was also damaged.

kepairs were immediately carried out for trains to pass.
